Editing Services for Authors

Meet the Editor

Hi, I’m Lily, a witchy romance author, developmental editor, and champion of stories that heal as they love. I help writers refine their manuscripts with empathy, intuition, and a deep understanding of emotional storytelling.

With a Creative Writing degree, Counseling degree, and far too many certifications, I help authors write stories that deserve to be seen in all its glowing, vulnerable, powerful glory. Let’s polish your pages until they feel like a spell well-cast.

What I Offer

Developmental Editing

Think of me as your story’s intuitive guide. I’ll dive deep into your manuscript’s soul — structure, pacing, character arcs, tension, and emotional depth — to help you bring your vision into focus. Together, we’ll untangle knots, strengthen your story’s heartbeat, and make every page feel intentional and alive.

You’ll receive:

  • In-line feedback/suggestions

  • Scene-by-scene or chapter-by-chapter summary notes

  • Optional: A one-hour follow-up call to discuss feedback and next steps

Manuscript Evaluation

Perfect if you’re finishing your first (or second...or third) full draft, not ready for a full developmental edit, or seeking clarity on your story’s direction

Not sure what your story needs yet? This option offers an overview of your manuscript’s strengths and opportunities for growth — a gentle but thorough assessment of where the magic’s flowing and where it’s fizzling. You’ll walk away with a detailed editorial letter and clear next steps for revision.

You’ll receive:

  • An editorial letter outlining big-picture strengths, areas for improvement, and next steps

  • No in-line edits — just clear direction and compassionate feedback

  • An optional 30-minute call to answer questions and set revision goals

Sensitivity Reading

I am especially well-suited to manuscripts engaging with:

Black womanhood in the U.S.

Including racism, misogynoir, respectability politics, family and community dynamics, desire, joy, rage, softness, and survival

Mental health & therapy

Such as trauma narratives, depression, anxiety, psychiatric care, therapeutic relationships, diagnosis, and healing arcs

Kink / BDSM

With attention to consent frameworks, power exchange, negotiation, aftercare, and common misconceptions

A care-centered, critical read focused on how identities, cultures, power dynamics, and lived experiences are portrayed in your work. This service is designed to help writers tell braver, more responsible stories without flattening complexity or creativity.

Non-monogamy

Including polyamory, open relationships, relationship anarchy, jealousy, communication, boundary-setting, and ethical complexity

Mini Evaluation

A smaller spell for a smaller scope — ideal for novellas, partial drafts, or your opening chapters. This focused feedback will help you see what’s working and where to strengthen your story’s spark.

You’ll Receive:

  • 2–3 page Editorial Letter with actionable notes

  • Optional 20-minute call

  • Personalized suggestions for next steps or revision rituals

Fee Structure

Sliding scales run on trust and self-awareness — no paperwork, no proof. Choose the tier that reflects your current access to resources, not your worth or your art’s value.

A quick self-inventory. Paying at this tier would feel…

like a stretch, but possible with care → Community

like a fair exchange → Sustainable

like generosity that still feels easy → Abundant

Each choice keeps this work in balance: sustaining me, supporting others, and making editorial magic more accessible to everyone.

  • You’re on a limited or unpredictable income, supporting dependents, or navigating systemic barriers (such as disability, marginalization, or low-wage work). Paying full rate would cause financial strain, but you still value professional editorial care.

  • You can meet your needs and occasionally afford extras. Paying the standard rate honors both your budget and my time.

  • You have financial stability, access to savings, or generational wealth. Paying at this rate feels comfortable and allows you to support greater access for others.
